Job Seeker Visa Germany
Come to Germany for 6 months to find a job - no offer needed upfront. The original "come and search" visa for qualified professionals.
What is the Job Seeker Visa?
The Job Seeker Visa (§20 AufenthG) allows qualified professionals to enter Germany for up to 6 months to search for employment matching their qualifications.
Unlike the newer Opportunity Card, the Job Seeker Visa doesn't use a points system - but you cannot work during the search period (only probationary employment of 10 hrs/week). Once you find a job, you switch to a work permit or Blue Card.

Important for Indian Applicants
- • Consider the Opportunity Card instead - it allows 20hrs/week work during your search
- • Blocked account is mandatory - plan for ₹10-11 lakhs
- • Learn at least basic German (A2-B1) before arriving - it dramatically improves your chances
- • Prepare a German-style CV (Lebenslauf) with photo, not an American-style resume
- • Start applying to jobs before you arrive - the 6 months go fast
