Software Development Ausbildung for Indians

Eligibility for Indians

  • Educational Requirement: Minimum 12th Standard Pass (Higher Secondary).
  • Language: Minimum German proficiency at the B1 level (Goethe/Telc certificate required).
  • Age: Generally 18-28 years old (though legally there is no upper age limit).
  • Other: Valid passport, motivation letter, and a well-structured German CV (Lebenslauf).

APS Certificate

For an Ausbildung, an APS certificate is generally NOT required, unlike Bachelor's or Master's degrees. However, if you plan to do a dual study program (Duales Studium) later, you will need it. For pure Ausbildung, your 12th passing certificate is evaluated directly by the employer or the IHK/HWK.

Visa Process for Indians

Once you secure a contract from a German employer for your Software Development Ausbildung, you must apply for a Vocational Training Visa (Ausbildungsvisum) under Section 16a of the German Residence Act. You will need:

  • Your signed training contract (Ausbildungsvertrag).
  • Approval from the Federal Employment Agency (Bundesagentur für Arbeit).
  • Proof of German language proficiency (typically B1 or B2 Goethe/Telc certificate).
  • A blocked account (Sperrkonto) IF your monthly stipend is below the minimum requirement. If your stipend covers living costs (usually ~€934 net/month), a blocked account is not needed.

Common Mistakes by Indian Applicants

  • Ignoring German Language: The single biggest reason for rejection is poor German skills. Do not apply with just A1/A2. Reach B1/B2 before sending applications.
  • Poorly Formatted CV: Do not use colorful Canva templates. Use the standard tabular German Lebenslauf format with a professional photo.
  • Missing the Motivation Letter: The Anschreiben is critical. Explain exactly why you want to do this specific Ausbildung in Germany.
